Employees today are much more aware of whether or not they are a good fit in their workplace culture. They want their leaders to be more sensible of their needs. In general, employees have become more sensitive about how to best co-exist in a workplace environment that allow them to be who they naturally are. This is based on individual emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to manage ourselves and our relationships effectively.
To be able to understand about the EI, firstly we have to know about the impacts when we learn in depth about the EI itself. People will be more aware with the fact that personality is shaped by various experiences and backgrounds they have encountered in the past.
In order to get deeper understanding about the EI, on January, 20th 2017, Fortune PR held a training specifically to socialize about “The Four Fundamentals in Emotional Intelligence Capabilities.” The training led by Yanti Amellia from Human Capital Development of Fortune PR discussed about th four fundamentals of EI which are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and social skill. Few real life examples and solutions using the fundamentals were also socialized to around 10 participants. Yanti then emphasized that, “We now no longer live in authoritative era. Hence, communicate your curiosity.”
Because Emotional Intelligence is just as important in professional fields, let’s start to build more empathy by being more aware of yourself and the surroundings.
