“Investor Relations (IR) is a strategic management responsibility that is capable of integrating finance, communication, marketing, and securities law compliance to enable the most effective two-way communication between a company and their stakeholders. IR officers and consultant usually interact with the top-level company management such as CEO, CFOs, and Board of Directors. The role of an IR is important for the company’s financial sustainability since IR holds a strategic management responsibility that manages the content and flow of company information to financial and other constituencies to maximize relative valuation. IR must make sure that investors, individual or in forms of an association, are well informed and profitable on their investments. IR professionals must convince the public that their company is doing great financially and will generate profit for the years to come. So an IR needs to own a strong background in communication, economics, and a strategic thinking.”
